Welcome to the MMA
Responding to Covid-19:
With the public health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of clients and their families is priority. Taking guidance from the CDC, WHO and other trusted sources for healthcare best practices, our members have implemented protocols that include but are not limited to stringent disinfectant precautions, social distancing, and telehealth visits when appropriate. During this uncertain and challenging time, Massachusetts midwives are accepting clients and continue to offer exceptional midwifery care in all locations – home, hospital and birth center – across Massachusetts. See our Map of Midwives to talk to a Massachusetts Midwives Alliance member.
The Massachusetts Midwives Alliance (MMA) is a professional trade organization created by and for a dynamic and diverse group of midwives. The MMA was founded to build cooperation among midwives, and to promote midwifery as a means of improving health care for women and their families.

Midwifery Education
The Massachusetts Midwives Alliance Basic Course in Midwifery meets twice a month for two years September through June to learn from practicing midwives from around Massachusetts.
Each full day class consists of a seminar style presentation on the material studied at home the preceding month, a vegetarian potluck lunch, and usually a skills practicum.
About MMA
The Massachusetts Midwives Alliance (MMA) is a professional trade organization created by and for a dynamic and diverse group of midwives. The MMA was founded to build cooperation among midwives, and to promote midwifery as a means of improving health care for women and their families.
We promote practicing the Midwives Model of Care based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes. This means we not only practice the Art of Midwifery, but also put strong emphasis on current evidence-based midwifery practice. We represent Certified Professional Midwives, Traditional/Direct-Entry Midwives and Certified Nurse Midwives who practice in hospital, home, and birth center environments.
