I am currently assisting C.P.M. Sybille Andersen with births here on Martha's Vineyard. I offer nurturing doula services and fun private childbirth education classes. I enjoy working with women of all walks of life during the transformative journey of pregnancy and childbirth.

About Lila

I was born and raised on Flat Point Farm in the town of West Tisbury, on Martha's Vineyard. I graduated from Vassar College in 2006. At Vassar, I developed a passion for social change as an American Culture major. After college, I worked with gentle birth activist Suzanne Arms at her non-profit called Birthing The Future in Colorado. I learned about the the midwifery model of care and the profound impact birth experiences have on both mother and baby. Hoping to combine my love of working with people and with my hands, my interest in health and my desire to create social change I set out on the path to becoming a midwife.

I fell in love with midwifery during midwifery school at Maternidad La Luz in El Paso, Texas from the spring of 2009 to the spring of 2010. During this rigorous year of training I attended just over 100 births. After passing the North American Registry of Midwives exam in November 2010 I received my licence as a certified professional midwife. I spent the following winter working with the well-known traditional Mexican midwife Angelina Martinez. I am currently assisting births with C.P.M. Sybille Andersen on Martha's Vineyard. I continue to study and am working to set up my own practice here on the Vineyard.
