About Kim
I started studying midwifery in 1981 while completing my degree in
Medical Technology/Biology. When I was pregnant with my first child,
I discovered that homebirth was an option. After three wonderful
homebirths with a direct entry midwife, I started my own training.
I enrolled in a very thorough distance education course and in 1994,
started attending homebirths as an apprentice. I've been attending
homebirths ever since.
As a La Leche League Leader since 1994, I've been counseling breastfeeding
women in both a group setting and individually. I was also a counselor with
Nursing Mothers' Council.
Since my homeschooled children have become adults, I have been able to
expand into other areas, such as working as a birth doula,
childbirth educator and hypnotist.
Over the years, I have enjoyed teaching midwifery students and helping train
apprentices, while I also continue to learn. I hope to be able to contribute
what I've learned to helping make birth kinder and gentler for moms and babies.
