About Michelle

I am a parent of two teenage boys, born gently at home. My educational path included a BA in Anthropology from Smith College, a year of traditional apprenticeship with a homebirth midwifery practice, and a 3 year degree program from MEAC-accredited Florida school. I've been attending births since 1996- in homes, birth centers, and domestic and foreign hospitals. I earned the Certified Professional Midwife credential in 2005, and have kept current with continuing education since then. I am an Approved Preceptor with the North American Registry of Midwives, and actively mentor the next generation of midwives. Since 2001 I've taught workshops for doulas, and in the past 5 years have accepted several invitations to teach specialized labor support skills to hospital labor & delivery staff.

My philosophy

Families approach their pregnancies, birthing-times, and early months of parenting with such a wide range of beliefs, hopes, and personal histories.

I'm interested in learning what this pregnancy and baby are to you and your loved ones; and developing a deep understanding of how I can be of service to your growing family.

Families of all configurations, beliefs, and birth plans are welcome. I support families in home or hospital; natural, epidural, c-section, VBAC, birth after loss, birth for adoption, surrogacy, and multiples.

I've been honored to walk this path with families for 19+ years, attending 300+ births to date. While each birth is unique, there are also common themes in the passage. My role is to serve as an experienced companion and skilled guide, supporting your highest hopes and shining a light on your own wisdom, courage, and strength.
