About Rebecca

Rebecca received a BA from the University of Connecticut in 1995 and began her midwifery studies with the MMA Basic Course in 1996.  After a formal 2 year apprenticeship in Boston, she worked in Southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape as a primary midwife and became a CPM in 2002.   In 2004 she moved to Western Massachusetts and began a midwifery partnership with Megan Hill who she worked happily with for 9 years. She sees the evolution of who she has become as a midwife to be directly related to her work with the wonderful families she has served and by her own birth experiences. She had 3 wonderful home births where she was served by her midwives with respect, dignity and love.  She felt first hand how anchoring this type of support can be.  She believes that quiet, careful safeguarding is what most woman need to open up and birth their babies.  And what babies need most is to be welcomed gently and then remain close to their families as they make that transition to the world outside.  Rebecca believes that each woman is unique and thus works with each woman on her terms, with safe evidence-based care.

Rebecca has been the treasurer of the MMA for the past ten years and serves on the board.  She also is one of the curriculum developers and teachers for the MMA Basic Course in Midwifery Studies.
